Buckingham Promotes James S. Simon to Equity Partner

(AKRON, OH, November 1, 2013) ― The law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs promoted James S. Simon to Equity Partner.
John Slagter, Buckingham’s Managing Partner, said, “Jim has been a valuable asset to our clients and his hard work and dedication to them validate this well deserved promotion.”
Simon was an Associate at Buckingham from 2000–2003, and Director of Administration for the Summit County Engineer from 2003–2006. He returned to Buckingham in 2007.
Simon represents individuals, businesses, tax-exempt organizations and government clients in real estate and business acquisitions, leasing transactions, public and low-income housing finance transactions, multiparty negotiations, and zoning and compliance matters. He also advises individual, corporate and political action committee clients on Ohio and Federal Campaign Finance laws and lobbying disclosure law compliance.
He serves as a Trustee of Bennington College in Vermont and chairs its Finance Committee. He is the Vice Chair of the Standing Commission on Constitution & Canons of the Episcopal Church and was recently named as a Trustee of Ideastream.
Simon earned his Bachelor of Arts at Bennington College and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Akron School of Law in 2000. He served as Managing Editor of the Akron Law Review from 1999 – 2000.
He was selected for inclusion in Ohio’s Super Lawyers®, recognized as a Rising Stars™ in 2010-2012.
