Robert W. Malone, joined Buckingham 38 years ago as an associate, and now serves as the chair of the firm’s Business Practice Group. His commitment to the firm stems from the colleagues he collaborates with and the clients he represents.
“Working at Buckingham provides me the opportunity to work with the best lawyers in the community,” says Rob.
During his time at Buckingham, Rob has won numerous awards for his legal excellence including being listed among his peers in Best Lawyers® and Super Lawyers, and being named the 2014 Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year in tax law.
Besides his work at Buckingham, Rob is a faculty member at the University of Akron where he began teaching in the Law School’s Masters of Taxation program in 1980, and currently teaches Partnership Taxation and Mergers and Acquisitions.
Aside from working and teaching, Rob enjoys serving the community. He has been a member of the Akron Bar Foundation for more than 20 years. His dedication and service to the Foundation recently earned him the first Foundation Commitment Award.
When he’s not serving the community, Rob enjoys staying active.
“I play racquetball, run, bike and swim. I grew up water skiing,” says Malone. “Skiing on Berlin Lake is one of my favorite things to do. I have been going there ever since I was a little kid. I guess in a way, you could say I’ve never really grown up.”
