Steve Dimengo, a senior tax attorney in our Akron office, joined Buckingham as an Associate in 1989.
Growing up, Steve always knew he would be a lawyer. His dad instilled in him the idea that he would one day be a successful lawyer.
“I worked backward from there,” says Steve. “I thought about what degree would be the best foundation for a law degree, and that is why I chose accounting. I then became an accountant and a business lawyer focused on tax law.”
Steve has received numerous awards during his legal career, including being listed among The Best Lawyers in America® since 2003, his inclusion in Super Lawyers Business Edition® for tax law in 2014, Akron Tax Lawyer of the Year in 2012 and his recent Frank L. Simonetti Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Akron in April.
In addition to practicing law, Steve is also the co-founder and co-author of the Ohio State Tax Blog, a legal tax blog run by Buckingham tax attorneys. When asked what he likes best about working at Buckingham, Steve says, “I really enjoy the support I receive on multiple fronts – from other attorneys, management, support staff and the whole administrative team. I also enjoy the flexibility to work at your own pace and style– it’s a combination of those things that have kept me at Buckingham for so long.”
Steve is an Akron native and enjoys exercising, sports, spending time in the parks and with family (especially for a good meal). “I’m proud of my roots,” says Steve. “I grew up in a working-class neighborhood in south Akron. I am from Akron and I will always live in the Akron community.”
