Buckingham Doolittle & Burroughs is building new offices in Jackson Township. Work has started on Munson Avenue NW.

JACKSON TWP. Work has started on new offices that will serve as the local home for the Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs law firm.

Construction has started on a 10,044-square-foot office building at 4277 Munson St. NW at Munson Street and Higbee Avenue NW. The firm hopes move in early in 2019.

“This is the perfect time for us to relocate,” Joe Feltes, partner-in-charge at the Canton office, said in press release. “The new space will allow us to more effectively and efficiently accommodate our clients while remaining a deeply‐rooted part of the community.”

Buckingham, which specializes in business law, has had an office in Stark County for more than 30 years. The new building “affirms our commitment” to the area, its businesses and the firm’s clients, Feltes said.

The firm traces its roots to 1913 when Akron lawyers Frank J. Rockwell and Charles T. Grant opened an office together. Rockwell was a former Summit County prosecutor and would eventually serve as Akron’s mayor. Grant was a Princeton graduate.

Lisle M. Buckingham, a former prosecutor and experienced criminal lawyer, came to the firm in 1929, and Gillum H. Doolittle, who was active in Republican politics and served in city government, joined in 1934. Edmund Burroughs, a Harvard Law School graduate, was recruited by Buckingham and Doolittle in 1943, and the firm’s long standing name was adopted.

Buckingham opened a Canton office in 1984 and a Cleveland office in 1990. Buckingham broadened its Stark County business in 1991 by merging with established Canton firm Amerman, Burt & Jones.

The firm has more than 10 lawyers based in the local office, along with support staff. It plans to expand the office after the move…[more]
