Buckingham Welcomes Melinda Smith Yeargin as an Associate in the Akron Office

(CLEVELAND, OH, June 18, 2013) ― The law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLC, is proud to announce that Melinda Smith Yeargin has joined the firm as an Associate in the Akron office’s Litigation Practice Group.
Prior to joining Buckingham, she served at the Ninth District Court of Appeals as a judicial attorney. She previously worked as an attorney at Scanlon & Gearinger Co., L.P.A. in Akron, where she acquired significant litigation experience. Her litigation practice included motor vehicle negligence, insurance coverage disputes, bad faith claims, wrongful death, medical malpractice, premises liability, will contests, employment, 42 U.S.C. Section 1983, defamation, employer international torts and product liability.
John Slagter, Buckingham’s Managing Partner, said, “Melinda’s litigation experience makes her a great addition to our Akron office. We are very excited about the new perspective she will bring from her time with the Ninth District Court of Appeals.”
Yeargin received her B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from Grove City College and her Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law. While attending the University of Akron, she earned a full tuition scholarship, competed nationally on the Trial Advocacy team, and served on the Law Review. Additionally, Yeargin is a member of the Ohio State and Akron Bar Associations. She lives in Green with her husband Rocco, their son, and two daughters (Schuyler, Caitlin, and Isabella). She enjoys genealogy, anthropology, and traveling.
