Jury Unanimously Rules In Favor Of Studiothink

(AKRON, OH, October 3, 2017) – A Cuyahoga County jury recently awarded a sizeable verdict in favor of Buckingham client, Studiothink, LLC.  The suit involved claims filed by Studiothink against a Cleveland-area distribution company, Unitrex, Ltd., which is wholly owned by a Japanese company, Entrex, Inc.

Although the case was originally filed in early 2015, Buckingham only became involved earlier this year to serve as Studiothink’s trial counsel.  Within a very short time period, Buckingham attorneys were tasked with reviewing over 80,000 pages of documents produced, and voluminous deposition transcripts.

The Buckingham team picked up those pieces and quickly developed a successful case strategy against the defendant, who – after seeing its sales increase exponentially after Studiothink’s involvement – had attempted to cancel its contract in an effort to avoid paying on-going royalties.

In line with Buckingham’s culture of collaboration, numerous Buckingham attorneys from both the litigation group and other practice areas jointly reviewed the case to identify key legal and factual issues and develop trial strategies.

After a seven day trial, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of Studiothink in the amount of $4.4 million.  The jury also unanimously found in favor of Studiothink, and against Unitrex, on the defendant’s counterclaim.

Buckingham Partners Nathaniel Sinn and Greg Amend, along with Andy Pullekins, Amanda Gatti, David Zulandt and Sally Kapcar comprised the trial team.  Dinn, Hochman & Potter, LLC represented Unitrex.
