Cleveland, OH - Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP is pleased to announce that Kara D. Beverly has been named to the Cleveland Bridge Builders Class of 2010. Cleveland Bridge Builders is a 10-month leadership program that seeks to identify, educate and channel rising leaders. Participants are provided an opportunity to develop their leadership capacity through individual leadership assignments, small group discussions, presentations from community leaders, engagement in team projects and review of best practices in leadership across industry sectors. Ms. Beverly provides counsel and support to the Employment & Workers’ Compensation and Business Practice Groups of Buckingham by advising clients on various employee issues regarding Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and FLSA. In addition to conducting research, drafting pleadings, briefs and discovery requests, she has conducted presentations for clients and their HR professionals on topics including proper documentation, job performance reviews, employee discipline, implementation of anti-discrimination policies, compliance with federal and state employment laws, and new employment legislation. Ms. Beverly also handles the formation of corporations, LLCs and other Ohio entities, and assists clients in collections matters. Prior to joining Buckingham, Ms. Beverly worked at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives Headquarters (ATF) in Washington, DC, as both a legal assistant in the Office of the General Counsel and as a student assistant in the Financial Management Division. While there, she conducted research, drafted legal memoranda on various matters and provided support to the Assistant Financial Managers of the Finance and Budget Branches. She is admitted to practice before the Ohio State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. Ms. Beverly is a member of the American Bar Association, National Bar Association and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. Ms. Beverly received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law, Washington, DC (2007) and her B.A. in Economics from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania (2007). In addition, she also attended Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Valparaiso, Chile (2003) through Villanova University’s M.B.A. program and Economics Department to study International Economics.
