Akron, OH - In collaboration with Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP, Glenmede Investment and Wealth Management, The Ohio Society of CPA’s (OSCPA), and Research Credit Group, The University of Akron G.W. Daverio School of Accountancy is pleased to announce that its National Tax Conference will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Holiday Inn, Independence. The theme for this year’s conference is Tax Planning for Financially Troubled Businesses. The University decided to partner with Buckingham, Glenmede, RCS, and the OSCPA to strengthen and enhance the quality of the program and its speakers. In its 31st year, the conference is designed to update tax practitioners in the accounting, legal, business, and governmental sectors. The morning session will address new developments, tax-saving ideas, current issues, and changes in the tax laws applying to businesses and individuals. The afternoon session will focus on tax planning for financially troubled businesses. National speakers for this year’s conference include: E. Lynn Nichols, CPA, who is a practicing CPA, tax consultant and founder of Mares Nichols CPE, Inc. in New Castle, PA; Eric Solomon, Former Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy), Treasury Department, who will speak on the Tax Legislation Outlook and Robert M. Siewert from Glenmede who will analyze the Investment Outlook for 2009/2010. Regional speakers include: James M. Bowen, CPA, Partner with Bober, Markey & Fedorovich & Co.; David J. The program will also qualify for 7.0 CLE credit hours (approval pending from the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education). The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy at The University of Akron presents this program as a public service to the tax community. The program is a 31 year outreach activity that is associated with the University’s Master of Tax Program. The registration fee is $150 per attendee and $75 per additional attendees from the same organization.
