Canton, OH - April 16, 2009 – The law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP is proud to announce the appointment of Richard S. Milligan to the Supreme Court of Ohio Task Force on the Disciplinary Process for lawyers and judges. Milligan was appointed to the committee by Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer. Chief Justice Moyer stated that “this task force will conduct a comprehensive review of the organizational rules and procedures currently in place to investigate, prosecute and adjudicate allegations of professional misconduct on the part of Ohio’s lawyers and judges.” The 18 member task force has been instructed to review the Ohio Disciplinary System and submit their recommendations in a report by the end of the year. Milligan has extensive jury trial experience in state and federal courts in general business civil litigation. Milligan also is extensively involved in the defense of hospitals, physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers in all types of matters including medical malpractice. In addition, he also acts as Bar Counsel to the Stark County Bar Association grievance committee assisting in the investigation and prosecution of misconduct by lawyers. Milligan earned his Bachelors of Arts from Kenyon College in 1976 and in 1980, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law. He regularly speaks on medical malpractice, risk management, employment, attorney ethics, and healthcare issues. Milligan is recognized by a vote of his peers as an Ohio Super Lawyer™ from 2004-2009, as well as one of the Top Attorneys in Civil Litigation Defense in the 2008 Corporate Counsel Edition of Super Lawyers™. In addition, Milligan has a Martindale-Hubbell Rating of AV, which indicates very high to pre-eminent legal ability and very high ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from members of the Bar. Milligan is active in his community where he serves as a member of the Board of Education for Canton City Schools. He is also on the board of the Stark Education Partnership.
